PROGRAM MANAGER - SOCIAL AND BEHAVIOR CHANGE AND COMMUNICATION SPECIALIST

About your role: 
You will be asked to work with WRI India on phase 2 program of Nurturing Neighbourhoods Challenge and Urban95 lighthouse cities which aims to allow Indian cities  to grow their vision towards access to public spaces, mobility and early childhood services to ensure wellbeing of young children and caregivers. Reporting to the Program Head and working with Program Coordinator, you will support cities to incorporate the socio-behaviour lens into the programs of local government agencies and mainstream the approach. With the knowledge of behaviour change science, you are required to provide technical support to the team to use multiple behavioural assessment tools, conduct formative research and implement behavioural interventions. You will be asked to support in planning multiple behaviour change-related activities to enhance usage of public spaces and create a supportive environment for caregivers of young children. You will be asked to develop materials and conduct training for government agencies, community groups, and other partners to mainstream this approach in cities.
 
You will independently lead research on the intersection of early childhood development, public realm and behaviour change science. You need to be energetic and agile, willing to learn and respond quickly, outcome oriented, team player and available to travel at short notice.
How your day will unfold: 
You will be asked to handle a range of program responsibilities. Some of the main responsibilities will include:
 
Program development and formative research
·     Outline strategy, deploy and deliver social behaviour change related outputs in the city projects, with attention to vulnerable groups and gender.
·     Identify and engage with relevant partners in the community, mobilize them in behaviour change-related activities and create calendar of events for sustained use of public spaces.
·     Developing SBCC training materials, conducting sessions for government officials and community groups for helping them sustain actions in the long-term.
·     Develop communication materials, outline campaigns and support outreach in the cities.
·     Support preparation of knowledge products for the program such as toolkits, guidebooks.
·     Work with internal Research team to validate methodologies of Behaviour change and create strategies to achieve program goals towards early childhood development.
·     Support WRI India in any other research or projects on the intersection of urban development and social behaviour change.
·     Provide advice on appropriate use of SBCC approaches, aimed at both individual behaviour change and collective action as well as policy advice.
 
 
Co-ordination of project work
·     Lead conversations alongside team members with the City Government and other relevant Govt. departments, local community and private sector and conduct focused group discussions with them.
·     Provide advice, coordination and technical support to the team in the development and strategic use of communication for social development to ensure optimum leverage and effect of communication activities on the project outcomes. 
·     Coordinate technical documents for the projects including data collection, conducting surveys and reports, case studies and external sharing reports.
·     Schedule project meetings, prepare presentations, assist the team in conducting partner consultations, focused group discussions and workshops.
·     Communicate with WRI India internal team members and supporting donor reporting towards meeting goals of the project.
·     Framing and conducting behaviour change campaigns in cities
 
Skills and Qualifications we seek: 
·     7+ years of relevant, full-time work experience with demonstrated involvement in Behaviour change science related programs including strategy development, public engagement and communications. Experience working with NGOs, CSOs, local community groups and government agencies towards community building and civic campaigns will be considered beneficial.
·     PhD or Master’s degree in the social/behavioural sciences, (Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, and Health Education) OR Bachelors with over 8 years of work experience with emphasis on strategic communication planning for behaviour development, social mobilization, and participatory communication, and research, training/facilitation and impact evaluation of communication interventions. Training in SBC and implementation in SBC, social mobilization and behavioral change. Training in inter-disciplinary approach in programme communication.
·     Demonstrated experience in conducting social and gender studies, baseline assessments and developing social campaigns and community events around inclusive development, government programs will be beneficial.
·     Work experience in Early childhood development and education is preferrable.
·     Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is a requirement.
·     Management skills to work with an array of partners ranging from government officials to community stakeholders.
·     Ability to work individually and collaboratively with the team.
·     Willing to travel to cities as required for stakeholder meeting and workshops.
·     Knowledge of multiple regional languages among Hindi, Marathi, Kannada, Malayalam and Odiya may be beneficial.
 
Location: Bangalore, Pune, Indore, Kochi, India 

Salary and Benefits: INR 15,00,000 to INR 18,00,000 CTC
Salary shall be commensurate with experience and skills. WRI offers a generous and comprehensive benefits package.
